𝗙𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗲𝘇, GE 117: Science, Technology, and Society Instructor, organized the seminar “𝗥𝗲𝘃𝗼𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗶𝘇𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗘𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝘆: 𝗔𝗜 𝗟𝗮𝗻𝗴𝘂𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗖𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗹 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴” with the theme “𝗔𝗜 𝗟𝗮𝗻𝗴𝘂𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗖𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗹 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴: 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗹𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘀” at the 𝗔𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗿𝗮 𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗻 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 𝟭𝟲, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟰.
It was attended by the 𝗗𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗴𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆, 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗿. 𝗝𝗲𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗳𝗲𝗿 𝗖. The guest speaker, 𝗠𝗿. 𝗜𝘃𝗮𝗻 𝗘𝗿𝗶𝗰 𝗦𝗮𝗹𝘃𝗮𝗱𝗼𝗿, a beacon of excellence in 𝗠𝗮𝘀𝘀 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗺𝗮𝗷𝗼𝗿 𝗶𝗻 𝗝𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘀𝗺 and currently the 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗗𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗪𝗲𝗹𝗳𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁, emphasized the necessity of perceiving AI as a tool for knowledge augmentation rather as a reliance. He argued for its efficient and effective inclusion in student manuals, emphasizing safe use.
𝗔𝗯𝗼𝘃𝗲 𝗮𝗹𝗹, the seminar highlighted both the potential advantages and difficulties of integrating AI in civil engineering, offering insightful information.𝗕𝗦𝗖𝗘 𝗙𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗵𝗺𝗲𝗻 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 were urged to use AI as a helpful tool in their academic and professional efforts, with a focus on appropriate application.
