The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) and Zamboanga City State Polytechnic College (ZCSPC) signed a Memorandum of Agreement on Wednesday, February 5, 2020, making ZCSPC a Mobile Blood Donation (MBD) Partner of the Philippine Red Cross.

As MBD partner, ZCSPC will be the source of blood donors through regular MBD activities among its members – employees and students alike.  This establishes ready availability of blood for every individual ZCSPC member and dependents anytime and anywhere subject to standard processing of the PRC.

Together, the ZCSPC and PRC-Zamboanga City will maintain a pre-determined stock level of blood at the latter’s blood service facilities (BSFs) intended for ZCSPC members and their dependents. However,  in the event that the stocked blood units are near expiration (which is 35 days), the PRC will have to  dispense  said  blood   units    to   other   clients   or

hospitals for purpose of humanitarian assistance.  Hence, ZCSPC incoordination with PRC-Zamboanga City, will schedule frequent mobile blood donation activities every year at scheduled dates, places and by alternated groups (college or department) to ensure continuous and ready availability of blood for its members.

The ZCSPC community is grateful for this new partnership with PRC as it will not only benefit themselves when needing blood units to save lives but it also caters other stakeholders in Zamboanga City.
