The Social Sciences and Humanities area of the Department of Arts and Sciences (DAS), Zamboanga City State Polytechnic College, sponsored the celebration of the United Nations Month on October 19 with a quiz bowl competition, a history rap music competition and a national costumes competition, at the ZCSPC covered court, this city.
Participants of the various contests were students from the High School Laboratory (HSL), Institute of Technical Education (ITE), DAS, Department of Maritime Education (DME), Department of Technology Education (DTE) and the Teacher Education Department (TED).
Champion of the quiz bowl were Samuel P. Jalani, Jr. and John Glenn H. Wee from HSL. Second placer were Ma. Pilar M. Tan and Jan Charly C. Chang of from DTE and third placer were Armand B. Halil and Jan Benedict Francisco also from HSL.
Contestants of the History Rap Music competition were students of History 111. The group that bagged first prize was composed of: Absar S. Askalani, Aliben L. Enriquez, Christine P. Mata, Diana A. Jamail. Jomar D. Ruiz, Maria Christina O. Bautista, Noemi B. Velez and Sheena Stephanie C. Garcia.
The group that landed on the second place was composed of: Benjie A. Edayan, Camille G. Gica, Cho Ann M. Gemina, Jhornalyn C. Tagud, Jonny C. Silvestre, Kent Steven Allunar, Rodel U. Sanchez and Sharlyn L. Apolinario.
The following were the third prize winners; Aldrin T. Lago, Almina Sharifa Taciana Alam, Al-Razib C. Absi, Havir Berto, Jeffry A. Cañete, Janly Evangelista, Joan G. Rivera, Jorji Asta, Mark Angelo E. Ventura, Mica L. Perez, Raezel A. ARevalao and Sheryl L. Gallardo.
In the National Costume competition, the following were the winners: first place – Roneann V. Baguio, representing the country of Antigua and Barbuda; Kim Alicando, representing Vietnam; and Princess Ann Melburnn, representing Libya.
Judges for the competitions were: Babe Aubrey Patricio Lim, faculty, Zamboanga National High School West; Giovanni S. Jasmin, faculty, Junior High School, Ateneo de Zamboanga University; and Ayshia F. Kunting, faculty, Western Mindanao State University.
