At least 34 faculty and staff of ZCSPC participated in the Research Writeshop and In-House Review for Completed Researches which was conducted by the Research Office of the Office of the Vice President for Research and Extension on July 29 to 30, 2015 at the ZCSPC conference room.
Resource persons were Dr. Joel T. de Castro, Director, Institute of Information Communication Technology (IICT) and Prof. Ma. Beth S. Concepcion also of IICT, West Visayas State University in Iloilo City.
During the three-day workshop, researchers were taught how to translate their research outputs into publishable form using the IMRAD format. Participants were also given tips on how to have their outputs published in international journals and how to package and present their technical papers in international forums.
There was a series of workshops, presentations and critiquing by the resource persons. The last day of the seminar was spent on the conduct of the In-House Review for Research Outputs during which participants presented their papers with the resource persons acting as referees.
A training evaluation conducted at the end of the seminar revealed that 100% of the participants say that the training has given them important insights on how to go about with their research work, that the resource persons were indeed experts and knowledgeable in the topics they discussed and that the sessions gave them opportunities to participate actively. Prof. Benhar J. Tahil, VPAF/VPAA said in his closing remarks that results of the training will certainly create a new culture of research in the college. (Evelyn C. LuceƱo)
