ZCSPC President, Dr. Nelson P. Cabral, personally accepted a commendation from the City of Zamboanga through City Resolution No. 1276 entitled “A Resolution Commending the Zamboanga City State Polytechnic College (ZCSPC) Thru its President, Dr. Nelson P. Cabral, for its Outstanding Contributions and Invaluable Assistance to the City of Zamboanga in these Challenging Times, at the Sangguniang Panglungsod on September 29, 2020.

Thru the dynamic leadership of Dr. Cabral, the school initiated the distribution of relief food packs and financial assistance to locally stranded students of ZCSPC who were adversely affected by the pandemic. In addition, it also initiated and administered the Hatid Estudyante Program which aimed to bring locally stranded students of ZCSPC to their respective provinces. Aside from the assistance extended by the school to its own students, it also extended its help to the community by initiating the Food Production Training Program which aimed to distribute healthy food snacks to all the frontliners designated in the different areas in the city. But the most significant contribution of the College under the leadership and supervision of Dr. Cabral is the mass production of face shields, face masks, and footbath trays which were distributed to health workers and other frontline workers fighting the Covid-19 disease in the City. The College acted swiftly to the urgent and immediate needs of the community especially those times when face shields and face masks were a rare commodity. Presently, the College is mass producing reusable face masks to be given free of charge to its own students. In anticipation of more students, parents and visitors transacting business with the school, it is currently putting up hand washing stations in strategic locations in the campus and taking other initiatives to help prevent the spread of the disease and secure the health of the employees inside the campus.

True to its mandate, the Zamboanga City State Polytechnic College lives up to its core values which are Love of God and Country, Social Responsibility, Commitment and Dedication to Service and Accountability. To quote some words in the City Resolution No. 1276, “The Academe has been a reliable consort of the Local Government Unit of Zamboanga City and the National Government in addressing the COVID-19 disease, its unselfish efforts and unwavering dedication in serving the public beyond the call of duty, is truly worthy of praise and recognition.”
