Natural disasters and other emergencies can happen at any time, and when they happen in school, everyone should be prepared to handle the situation safely and effectively. Administrators, teachers, staffs, parents and students can work together to promote and maintain school-wide safety to minimize the effect of emergencies and other dangerous situations.

Recognizing its importance, the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences (CAHSS) conducted a Faculty Seminar/Training on Risk, Disaster and Humanitarian Communication on July 25-26 for CAHSS instructors and the school’s Emergency and Disaster Control Group at CAHSS Room 102, ZCSPC Main Campus.
CAHSS invited Engr. Allan Rommel Labayog, Science Research Analyst/OIC, PHIVOLCS to share his expertise as the seminar’s resource speaker.
Engr. Labayog provided and discussed information on the following issues: Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM), Key Issues and Debate around DRRM to life, Overview of Climate Change, Understanding Earthquake, Hazard and Planning and Hazard Mitigation Planning that will increase the overall awareness and understanding of
Disaster Risk Management in general. The information he provided enhanced the learnings of the participants from the session.

This seminar is designed to help participants understand and develop life-saving plans through enhancing disaster response operations, developing and testing early warning systems regularly, and planning measures to be undertaken during a disaster alert period to minimize potential loss of life and damages to physical properties.
What other way to perfectly end July than to make it resourceful and meaningful for CAHSS and the institution. With the unwavering support of our Dean, Jocelyn P. Remoto and her staff… CAHSS did it again!
